Target Audience.

The 'British Board of Film Classification'  has certain age restrictions on certain films. This is because of the structure of the film as well as what scenes, languages, genre or sexual scenes there are. Below is the logo for the 'British Board of Film Classification' this is usually behind every age certificate.

There are very different stages in films so that is why the BBFC made the age certificates. They made them because not everybody was the same age so not everybody was in the right state of minds so you cant show a film like 'Insidious' to a 5 year old, as they would become terrified! So that is why we have age classifications so that the wrong people don't see this film.So they made 'U' , 'PG' , '12' , '15' , '18'. So there are age restrictions on what people can see what films.
